Russia reiterated its previous conditions for reaching a peace agreement with Ukraine in a private communiqué sent to the US last weekend, known as an "unofficial document," reported Reuters, citing two American officials and a person familiar with the situation.

It reiterated Russia's demand to take control of the entire Donbas, one of the American officials stated. This position effectively rejects Trump's view that the front line should be frozen in its current state.

Additionally, Moscow confirmed its previous demand that after a peace agreement is reached, NATO troops should not be stationed on Ukrainian territory.

Previously, the White House announced that a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, despite announcements, will not take place in the near future. Trump stated that he has not yet made a final decision regarding the summit but does not want the meeting to be "useless." He added that, in his opinion, a ceasefire along the current front line is still possible.

On Friday, at a closed meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported by Reuters and other media, American officials proposed to the Ukrainian leader a plan put forward by the Kremlin to relinquish Donbas in exchange for small parts of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Zelensky rejected this proposal, after which Trump publicly stated that the existing front lines should be frozen.
