On the night of October 16, Russian military attacked Ukraine's energy and civilian infrastructure using more than 300 strike drones and 37 missiles, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported. The infrastructure of the Vinnytsia, Sumy, and Poltava regions was under attack.

In Nizhyn, Chernihiv region, a post office building and a multi-story residential building were damaged, and one person was injured.

In the Kharkiv region, part of the State Emergency Service was attacked, with injuries among the rescuers.

In the Poltava region, DTEK Naftogaz gas extraction facilities were attacked, and their operation was suspended, the company reported.

Acting head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Kogut, added that oil and gas industry facilities were damaged as a result of both debris falls and direct hits. Due to the attack, 6,450 consumers in six settlements were left without gas supply.

Emergency power outages began to be introduced in different regions of the country. Emergency power outages started in the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kirovohrad, and Poltava regions, DTEK reported.

"Restoration is underway everywhere now. Services are working. And there is confirmation that the Russians are using double terror — striking with 'Shaheds' with cluster munitions, delivering repeated strikes to injure firefighters and energy workers who are working on restoration after the damage. This autumn, every day, the Russians use for strikes on our energy infrastructure," wrote Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on his Telegram channel, once again reminding that the Kremlin "understands only the language of pressure."
