A meeting between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky is possible, stated, answering journalists' questions in China, the Russian president. For this, according to Putin, Zelensky must come to Moscow.
«Donald [Trump] asked me, if possible, to hold such a meeting. I said: yes, it is possible. After all, if Zelensky is ready, let him come to Moscow, such a meeting will take place», — Putin stated.
In August, the President of Ukraine ruled out negotiations in Moscow, but said he was not against meeting with Putin in Switzerland, Austria, or Turkey, noting that the negotiations should take place on a neutral platform.
In a conversation with journalists, Putin also touched on the topic of Zelensky's legitimacy and territorial concessions, referring to the Constitution of Ukraine.
According to Putin, if the current authorities «want to be legitimate and take full part in the settlement processes», they must first hold a referendum to resolve territorial issues. But a referendum cannot be held during martial law, and if it is lifted, elections must be held.
«This is a road to nowhere, if just with the current head of administration, so to speak carefully, to hold meetings. It is possible, I have never refused this, if this meeting is well prepared», — Putin reported.
