Bloomberg: About 10 countries are ready to send troops to Ukraine after signing a peace agreement

2025.08.20

The European contingent will be stationed "away from the front line", the format and size of US assistance is unclear

European officials discussed a plan on August 19 to send British and French troops to Ukraine as part of a peace agreement, including the number of troops and their location, Bloomberg found out. About 10 countries are ready to send their troops to Ukraine, agency sources said.

"European military representatives will meet with their American counterparts in the coming days to specify reliable security guarantees and prepare for the deployment of support forces in case of a ceasefire," the British government statement said. It is noted that the European contingent will be stationed "away from the front line".

Part of the plan includes support from the US, most likely in the form of intelligence sharing, border control, arms supplies, and possibly air defense.

European officials expect that the US will at least continue to provide intelligence and military equipment through European partners.
