According to Baza, a riot occurred on the territory of one of the military commandant's offices, in a specially fenced area where soldiers who had left their unit without permission were held. About a hundred soldiers broke the fence of the area where they were held and left the territory. They were unarmed, and there were no casualties or injuries. The territory of the military commandant's office was cordoned off from all sides by the National Guard and police vehicles.
A relative of one of the soldiers and a lawyer told ASTRA* that the soldiers rioted "because they — blind, legless, with mental disorders — have been held in these tents illegally for half a year." In addition, they saw how commanders released several detainees for money.
"The incident happened yesterday because some of them were released for money. And they did not return on time. And the guys started a riot. On what grounds are some released, those who have money? We, for example, have no money. But we have no right to be here. Specifically, we, my husband, should be at home. And they started to storm [the leadership], asking why don't you release us then? I know that some are held there with the category 'D', and some are missing an eye, some — limbs," Olga, whose husband has been held in tents on the territory of the commandant's office in Krasnodar since December, told the publication.
The woman claims that her husband was undergoing rehabilitation at home in December 2024 after 8 concussions in one of the regions of the Russian Federation. However, Olga herself had a minor stroke and had to recover in one of the clinics in Krasnodar. The woman's husband, along with their child, went with her — there the man was detained and locked up on the territory of the commandant's office. A criminal case was initiated against the serviceman for unauthorized absence. According to the woman, her husband was transferred from this commandant's office to a psychiatric clinic, where he was diagnosed and assigned a fitness category — "limited fit." After that, in April 2025, the criminal case was closed, but the man is still in the commandant's office.
According to a lawyer representing the interests of two servicemen assigned to the unit in Krasnodar, some have been there for more than half a year. According to him, the men are not provided with medical assistance, and medical personnel are not allowed onto the territory of the unit. The soldiers live in tents right on the street behind a chain-link fence.
Both Olga and the lawyer claim that there are more than 100 detainees. They do not know exactly how many managed to escape. Olga reports that her husband is currently on the territory of the tent camp, where "proceedings" are taking place. In the evening, alerts appeared in Krasnodar public pages about three allegedly escaped servicemen. It was claimed that 7 escaped, but 4 were detained, and three — those who were included in the alerts, are allegedly still being sought.
