The Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced 33-year-old native of Donetsk's Makiivka, Hryhoriy Sinchenko, to 26 years of strict regime, reported «Mediazona»* citing the court's press service.

The indictment included 47 episodes, including six episodes of «sabotage» and episodes of «espionage» and «participation in a terrorist community».

The prosecution requested 27 years of imprisonment, in court Sinchenko admitted guilt only on one of the charges — escaping from custody. The case contains his confessions to many other episodes, but the Ukrainian insists he gave them only because he was tortured. Sinchenko's mother has repeatedly spoken about the torture.

Sinchenko was first detained in 2016 on suspicion of blowing up trade kiosks and a power line. According to the investigation, he manufactured explosive devices and carried out explosions to extort money from entrepreneurs. Sinchenko was eventually released as part of a prisoner exchange, after which, according to law enforcement, he was «recruited by the SBU».

Sinchenko was detained a second time in 2019 on charges of blowing up the «Phoenix» cell station (mobile operator of the «DNR»), manufacturing homemade explosive devices, surveilling employees of the regional organized crime control department of the «DNR», and planting an explosive device under a car in the parking lot of the UBOP «DNR». No one was harmed by Sinchenko's actions.
