The Basmanny Court of Moscow detained singer Elizaveta Gyrdymova, better known as Monetochka, for evading the fulfillment of 'foreign agent' duties. Previously, the singer was fined twice for the absence of the 'foreign agent' label, reported the Moscow prosecutor's office.
A criminal case was initiated in September 2024, and she was declared wanted at that time.
The Ministry of Justice included Monetochka in the list of 'foreign agents' in January 2023. The reason for this was the singer's statements against the war and collections in support of Ukraine.
In October, four street musicians who performed Monetochka's songs received administrative arrests. Two of them were charged with 'discrediting' the Russian army. After the arrest of the St. Petersburg group 'Stoptime', the singer urged listeners remaining in Russia to 'put safety first'.
