The 2nd Eastern District Military Court sentenced 35-year-old Irkutsk native Anton Kalakin* to six years in a general regime penal colony for two episodes of «justifying terrorism» on the internet, reported «People of Baikal» citing lawyer Valery Teterin. In addition, he was banned from publishing information on the internet for 2.5 years. The prosecution requested 6.5 years.

35-year-old laborer Anton Kalakin in June 2024 saw a post in a Telegram channel about Irkutsk, where Governor Igor Kobzev convinced Bratsk deputy Eduard Demin that spending on war was «more important» than repairing schools.

Kalakin left a comment: «Hang them without trial or investigation on a lamppost along Karl Marx!». He did not specify whom to hang. Before this, in 2023, Kalakin wrote comments in Ukrainian Telegram channels about releasing prisoners from the «Azov»** regiment. A criminal case was initiated against Kalakin for «justifying terrorism». Before the trial, he was under a travel ban.

On May 13, 2025, Anton Kalakin was included in the list of terrorists and extremists by Rosfinmonitoring.

As noted by «People of Baikal», in the Irkutsk region, charges under the article on «justifying terrorism on the internet» have been brought against at least nine people.

* Included in the list of «terrorists and extremists».
