In Russia, in the first half of 2025, 115 people were convicted of treason, including 10 with additional qualifications, according to data from the Judicial Department analyzed by «Verstka»*. This is a record figure at least since 2017.
At the same time, the data from the Judicial Department do not take into account court decisions made in the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia — «DPR», «LPR», and parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
The previous record for a similar period was recorded last year, when 55 people were convicted, and a year earlier — 15 people.
Under the article on espionage, 12 people were convicted in the first half of 2025. Last year, 18 people were convicted in half a year, which was a record figure, and at that time, a record increase — by 16 people — was recorded.
Under the article on disclosure of state secrets, 45 people were sentenced in the first half of the year. This is five more than in the first half of last year, when 40 people were convicted.
The study by the Analytical Center of Kirill Parubets and «First Department»* includes figures taking into account the occupied regions — 224 sentences in cases of treason, espionage, and «confidential cooperation» for the first half of 2025.
