Between the release of the first and second groups of hostages, the plane of US President Donald Trump landed in Israel, where he was to speak in the Knesset about the end of the war.

Donald Trump wrote in the Knesset guest book: «It is a great honor for me — a great and wonderful day. A new beginning».

When asked what would happen to Hamas if the group did not adhere to the truce, Trump replied — «they will adhere», noting that Hamas agreed to comply with the disarmament clause provided for in the peace plan.

Speaking from the Knesset podium, Trump stated that Israel «achieved everything it could» and now it is time for peace in «the entire Middle East».

«This is not just the end of the war. This is the end of the era of terror and death, it is the beginning of the era of faith, hope, and the Lord. It is the beginning of an era of harmony between Israel and the countries of the region. This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East».

«This is also a chance for the Palestinians — to turn away from terror and choose peace. I have met many people who want this. Gaza must strive for reconstruction, for its children. We will help and do something very popular — the Peace Council. It's just the Peace Council», — Trump said.

He also stated that the entire region supports the plan according to which Gaza will be immediately demilitarized, Hamas will be disarmed, and Israel's security will not be threatened in any way.

Trump's further plans include resolving the issue with Iran and Russia to bring the negotiation process to the end of the war.

At the end of the speech, Trump made a personal request to the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog. «Why don't you pardon [Netanyahu]? He is one of the greatest wartime presidents. And who cares about cigars and champagne?» This refers to the corruption charges against Netanyahu, including receiving expensive gifts from foreign guests that he did not declare. However, there has not yet been a trial on these charges.
