The authorities of Tatarstan reduced the amount of the one-time payment for signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense from 2.7 million to 400 thousand rubles. The authorities did not officially announce this, as with previous increases in this payment, but this amount appears on the website of the Tatarstan military commissariat, the project "Heroes of Tatarstan," as well as on banner advertisements of state or government-affiliated media.
The reduction in the regional payment was not reported by Tatarstan media or republican telegram channels, they simply updated the amounts in the contract service advertisements.
The last time the republic's authorities increased the one-time payment for signing a contract was in early August of this year — from 2.1 to 2.7 million rubles. At that time, all state media of the republic and pro-government telegram channels reported this.
Tatarstan is one of the leaders in the number of casualties in the war with Ukraine, second only to Bashkortostan. Volunteer battalions were created in the republic, where recruits were contracted. According to calculations by "Idel.Realii"*, at least 6,221 natives of the republic have already died since the start of the full-scale war.
