In the Krasnodar Territory, Deputy Governor Alexander Vlasov was detained after he announced his resignation to go to war in Ukraine as part of the "Kuban" brigade, reported the local portal 93.ru citing sources. It is reported that Vlasov may be involved in the embezzlement of large sums of money intended for subsidies to participants of the "SVO".
"Preliminary information suggests that his subordinates were preparing forged documents to cover up the crime. Meanwhile, Cossack volunteers were experiencing an acute shortage of uniforms and equipment and were forced to purchase them at their own expense," a source in the law enforcement agencies told the publication.
In the morning, searches were conducted in the office of the deputy governor in connection with the case of embezzlement of funds allocated to participants of the war with Ukraine. On the same day, Vlasov announced at the regional Council of Atamans that he was resigning and going to war in Ukraine. However, he was detained in the evening.
Alexander Vlasov became deputy governor in September 2020. He was responsible for Cossack affairs, sports, and mobilization work in the Krasnodar Territory. In May 2021, the official headed the Kuban Cossack Army Society, where his son later joined.
In June 2024, an investigation initiated a criminal case of fraud against the 26-year-old son of Deputy Governor Alexander Vlasov Jr. He was charged with fictitious employment in the Kuban Cossack Army Society in the honorary guard staff from 2021 to 2023 and the appropriation of 87,400 rubles.
