Aalborg Airport in Denmark, used for commercial and military flights, was closed for three hours due to the presence of drones in its airspace, writes Reuters. The Danish national police stated that the drones operated in a similar manner to those that stopped flights at Copenhagen Airport for four hours a few days ago.
Denmark stated on Tuesday that the incident at Copenhagen Airport was the most serious attack on its critical infrastructure and linked it to a series of suspected Russian drone intrusions and other disruptions across Europe.
The closure of Aalborg Airport also affected the Danish armed forces, as it is used as a military base, added the police.
The North Jutland police informed journalists that "more than one drone" was spotted near Aalborg Airport, flying with lights on. The drones could not be shot down, and the drone operators have not yet been found.
Local media, citing the South Jutland police, reported that drones were spotted near three more airports — in Esbjerg, Sønderborg, and Skrydstrup, where Danish F-16 and F-35 fighters are based.
