Kim Jong Un stated during his speech on Sunday at a two-day key parliamentary session that he has «good memories» of US President Donald Trump and Pyongyang is ready for talks with the US if Washington abandons the demand for denuclearization of North Korea.
«If the US abandons its empty obsession with denuclearization and wants to pursue peaceful coexistence with North Korea based on recognizing reality, we will have no reason not to sit at the negotiating table with the US», — said Kim.
At the same time, Kim Jong Un spoke about a breakthrough in armaments. «We have acquired a new secret weapon and achieved a significant number of research achievements in the field of defense science, which will make a substantial contribution to the further development of our military capabilities», — quoted by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Earlier in September, KCNA reported on a ground test in North Korea of a new high-thrust rocket engine. Carbon fiber-reinforced material was used for its creation. This was the ninth and final test in the development process. According to the agency, the engine is intended for intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Additionally, Kim reported that after participating in the war with Ukraine, «people's heroism has engulfed the entire society». «After reports of the heroic deeds of our overseas detachments involved in the operation to liberate the Kursk region of Russia, people's heroism has engulfed the entire society. Among the youth, enthusiasm for military service has reached unprecedented heights, creating a positive atmosphere in which Koreans rise to a patriotic struggle for the honor of Korea», — he stated.
Also, according to him, «tens of thousands of soldiers, employees, and residents» are donating money to help the families of fallen soldiers, «to «help them make ends meet», as well as for the construction of a memorial and monuments.
