The Prosecutor General's Office paid special attention to 'Reporters Without Borders'*, who 'spread Western clichés about the infringement of journalists' rights'

At a briefing in the Central Election Commission, a representative of the Prosecutor General's Office, Alexey Zhafyarov, stated that Russian elections are hindered by 'external interference', including with the help of 'undesirable' organizations.

He explained that since the beginning of the year, 62 organizations have been recognized as 'undesirable', citing reasons such as destabilization of the situation in Russia, interference in electoral processes, and 'discrediting the internal and external policies of the state'. In 2025, 130 protocols were drawn up for participation in undesirable organizations.

Zhafyarov specifically mentioned the organization 'Reporters Without Borders', which was added to the register of 'undesirable' in August. The official stated that it received this status because it conducted 'systematic work in the Russian direction, spreading Western clichés about the infringement of freedom of expression, persecution of independent media and journalists'.

* Recognized as an 'undesirable' organization in Russia.
