Political prisoner Aleksei Gorinov was sent to solitary confinement for another two weeks — until September 24. This is his fourth consecutive extension of solitary confinement at Colony No. 10 in Rubtsovsk, reported Gorinov's support group.
The formal reason for the latest punitive measure was that Gorinov allegedly did not keep his hands behind his back while outside the cell. The prisoner himself emphasizes that he pays maximum attention to such details, does not intend to violate anything, and has not done so previously.
Gorinov notes that the extension of the measure occurs "in automatic mode according to a well-established scheme": at the weekly commission, his "violation" is reviewed, and the punishment is extended not for the maximum 15 days provided, but for 14, so that solitary confinement can be extended again without a special meeting.
Gorinov also reported that after three weeks, his complaint to the prosecutor's office about the unfounded placement in solitary confinement seems to have been forwarded. But he has not yet received a response from the prosecutor's office.
The conditions in solitary confinement are extremely harsh. Aleksei said that he is held in a dirty "utility room" measuring 8.5 square meters. The floor in the cell is wooden, with holes and gaps, the walls have peeling plaster and damp paint. Almost nothing can be seen through the opening that serves as a window.
In July, upon arrival at the high-security Colony No. 10 in Rubtsovsk (Altai Krai), the political prisoner was almost immediately sent to solitary confinement.
In July 2022, Gorinov was sentenced to seven years in prison under the article on military "fakes" for proposing a minute of silence in memory of the victims of aggression in Ukraine at a meeting of deputies of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow. In November 2024, Gorinov was sentenced to three years in a colony for conversations with cellmates, accused of "justifying terrorism." Taking into account the previous sentence, the total term amounted to five years, but now — in a high-security colony.
