The FSB reported the detention of a citizen of Azerbaijan on suspicion of preparing terrorist attacks in the Stavropol region, stating that he voluntarily pledged allegiance to the National Liberation Battalion of Ukraine.

​As stated during interrogation by the detainee himself, he arrived in Stavropol in 2025 for work. «At the same time, I met a representative of Ukrainian terrorist organizations. To prove my loyalty to him, I recorded an oath», — he said in a video published by TASS.

​According to the investigation, on the curator's assignment, he conducted reconnaissance of state facilities in the Stavropol region for planning sabotage and terrorist attacks, and then acquired components for homemade explosives in Yessentuki.

​A criminal case has been initiated under the article «on preparation for a terrorist attack».

​Another native of Azerbaijan was accused of involvement in the murder of the head of the RCBZ troops, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, and his assistant Ilya Polykarpov.
