The Syktyvkar City Court on August 28 sent Sergey Lebedev, a teacher of algebra and geometry at the Pushkin City Gymnasium, to a detention center. He is accused of sabotage for setting fire to a locomotive, reports «7×7»*.
According to the investigation, on the night of August 27, Lebedev broke the glass of the locomotive cab at the Syktyvkar depot and threw a Molotov cocktail inside. The locomotive sustained «significant material damage», the amount of which was not disclosed in court; the fire rendered the locomotive unfit for operation, disrupted passenger transportation, and posed a threat of a railway accident.
The court ordered Lebedev to be held in custody for two months until October 26, 2025.
