Before being charged, he was arrested four times in a row on administrative charges of hooliganism and disobedience to a police officer

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested 56-year-old driver-courier Oleg Kuryaev on treason charges, learned «Mediazona»* from the court's website.

FSB operatives detained Kuryaev after a search of his apartment in Shcherbinka, Moscow region, on July 8, his lawyer Roman Isaev told the publication.

Before his arrest, the man worked as a driver-courier, as a private entrepreneur he delivered goods in a «Gazelle» around the Moscow region and other regions.

The next day, the Mozhaysky City Court placed Kuryaev under administrative arrest for 12 days, finding him guilty under the article on disobedience to a police officer's order. According to the ruling, on the evening of July 8, he was stopped by a police officer «for questioning regarding involvement in a crime», but Kuryaev allegedly tried to escape. The driver did not plead guilty to this and said that he agreed to go to the police station voluntarily.

After the first arrest period expired, a new protocol was drawn up against Kuryaev under the article on petty hooliganism. As stated in the protocol, he «used coarse obscene language in a public place».

On July 24, a judge of the Ruza District Court placed the driver under arrest for another 15 days. Kuryaev again did not plead guilty and said that on the day of his release from the temporary detention center, the police took him to the police station and drew up a protocol that did not correspond to reality.

On August 1, the Cheryomushkinsky District Court of Moscow considered another protocol against Kuryaev under the article on hooliganism. Kuryaev said in court that in fact, when he was released from the temporary detention center, unknown people in civilian clothes with balaclavas on their heads put him in a car and took him to the police station in the Konkovo district, where they drew up another protocol, which he refused to sign. This time the driver was given 14 days of arrest.

Next time Kuryaev was arrested for another 14 days, all under the same article on hooliganism.

On the evening of August 28, he was supposed to be released from the special detention center in Sakharovo. However, from there Kuryaev was taken to the FSB building on Lubyanka. At night, he was beaten and tortured with an electric shocker, receiving electric shocks to his arms and legs, Kuryaev managed to tell his defender.

In the morning, the driver was already arrested on criminal charges by the Meshchansky District Court. In court, he again stated that he disagreed with the charges and did not plead guilty.

According to the investigation, lawyer Isaev said, Kuryaev on his work «Gazelle» «drove around infrastructure objects and sent photos to Ukrainian intelligence», and also «had a negative attitude towards the Russian leadership and armed forces».
