President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, during a speech at a youth event at the Summer University, stated that US President Donald Trump is currently acting as a "Russian agent", reports CNN Portugal.
Souza spoke about the international situation and current challenges. He called Trump an example of a new style of political leadership, more emotional and focused on direct contact without intermediaries. At the same time, the leader of Portugal noted a dangerous shift in the global balance of power.
"With one particular and complex feature: the leader of the leading superpower is, objectively, a Soviet or Russian agent. He acts as an agent", — stated Souza, emphasizing that Trump's relations with the Kremlin do not resemble a "union based on friendship, economic, ideological, or doctrinal complicity".
"I say that, from an objective point of view, the new US leadership strategically favors the Russian Federation", — added Souza.
