Judge Marina Yakutova of the Leninsky District Court of Perm sent the wife of Perm human rights activist Artem Faizulin, Irina, and athlete Elena Guseva to custody until October 15 in the case of FBK donations, reports ProPerm.ru.
They are charged with financing an extremist organization.
According to Faizulin, his wife is accused of seven transfers to FBK of 300 rubles each. He believes that the case is related to his political activities, and Irina was 'taken hostage.'
'I was absolutely not prepared for it to happen this way. I am here, free, with my family, with my children, and [my wife] Irina is now behind bars. <...> I perceive this as very sophisticated mockery. They, if they wanted, could have found plenty of reasons to pack me up. But they packed her. I don't quite understand how to live with this now,' said the lawyer.
The day before, all three were detained in Berezniki, he was released after a search, and the women were taken to Perm.
Elena Guseva is an athlete and mother of three children, who in 2013 swam across the Bering Strait, connecting Russia and the USA, and got into the Guinness Book of Records.
After the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Guseva was fined 40,000 rubles under the article on 'discrediting' the army for an anti-war picket. For refusing to pay the fine, she was later assigned 20 hours of community service.
'Mediazona'** calculated that across Russia, at least 76 people are already being prosecuted for FBK donations.
