«Free Russia Forum», founded in 2016 in Vilnius by Garry Kasparov** and Ivan Tyutrin**, was added to the list of terrorist organizations published on the FSB website. The basis was the sentence of dissident Alexander Skobov — on March 21, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison, accused of «justifying terrorism» and participating in the activities of a terrorist community, which the investigation considered to be the «Free Russia Forum». Until today, the «Free Russia Forum» had not been recognized as terrorist, only «undesirable» in the Russian Federation.
According to the Federal Law «On Countering Terrorism», a terrorist community is recognized as a terrorist organization if a guilty verdict in a criminal case on the creation of this community or participation in it comes into force.
Skobov himself was also included in the list of «terrorists and extremists» by Rosfinmonitoring in April 2024.
