The Telegram channel «Pul Pervogo» reported that Trump and Lukashenko discussed «bilateral agenda issues, regional topics, and situations in hotspots, including Ukraine». Additionally, Lukashenko invited Trump and his family to Minsk, «and this invitation was accepted».
The US President wrote on the social network Truth Social that he had a conversation with «respected Alexander Lukashenko». «The purpose of the call was to express gratitude for the release of 16 prisoners. We are also discussing the release of another 1,300 prisoners», — he reported.
According to Trump, he also spoke with Lukashenko about Vladimir Putin's visit to Alaska, which will take place today. «I look forward to meeting with Lukashenko in the future», — wrote the US President.
In early July, Lukashenko pardoned 16 prisoners — eight women and eight men. Among them were three people over 50 years old, two with chronic illnesses, and one person with a disability. Nine of the released had minor children.
Meanwhile, the Belarusian authorities included 78-year-old activist Nina Baginskaya in the register of «extremists». In May, the district court of Minsk found the activist guilty of «repeated violation of the order of organizing or conducting mass events». However, Baginskaya was released from punishment due to her age, with «preventive supervision» assigned to the activist.
