The court sentenced Denis Putilov, the former head of the Central Military District's armored vehicle service, to eight and a half years in a high-security prison, the Investigative Committee reported. He was found guilty of accepting a particularly large bribe during the execution of a state defense order.
According to the investigation, in 2023-2024 he received a 10 million ruble bribe from a representative of IP Chudinov for "general patronage." The private entrepreneur signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense for the repair and maintenance of equipment worth 140 million rubles but did not fulfill the conditions, causing significant damage to the department, investigators reported.
The court also stripped Putilov of the title "Major General" and prohibited him from holding administrative positions in government bodies for six years.
During the investigation since September last year, Putilov was held in a pre-trial detention center. In April of this year, investigators reported that the court seized the military officer's assets worth more than 12 million rubles.
