The decision was made by the Shali City Court, and the verdict was reported by the project "Team Against Torture".* According to the investigation, Musaeva hit a Federal Penitentiary Service officer and tore off a shoulder strap when they were traveling in a car from the hospital. She does not admit guilt, and none of the witnesses saw this either.
Zarema Musaeva is the wife of retired judge Said-Yangulbaev. Their sons run the opposition channel 1ADAT, which reports on abductions in Chechnya and criticizes Kadyrov.
In January 2022, Chechen security forces abducted Musaeva from her own apartment in Nizhny Novgorod and brought her to Chechnya. There she was arrested on charges of using violence against a police officer, to whose interrogation she was brought after the abduction. She was also accused of consumer credit fraud. For these charges, the woman was sentenced to 4 years and 9 months of imprisonment.
The second criminal case against Musaeva was initiated a few months before the end of the term for the first one.
In detention, Musaeva's health, who has several illnesses, is constantly deteriorating. The woman has difficulty moving due to pain, and she has repeatedly experienced acute hypertensive crises.
