Former head of the Navy's radio engineering service, Captain First Rank Oleg Lopatiev, was sentenced to 9 years in a high-security colony and fined 16.5 million rubles in a case of receiving bribes on a particularly large scale, reported the press service of Russia's military investigative bodies. He is also banned from holding positions in government bodies for three years.
According to the investigation, in 2022-2025, the Russian Ministry of Defense concluded contracts with JSC 'Izumrud' and PJSC 'Dalpribor' for the supply of technical devices totaling more than 400 million rubles. The responsibility for quality control of the supplied products was assigned to Lopatiev, who received a bribe from the company leaders for 'general patronage' amounting to over 8 million rubles.
Lopatiev was detained and sent to a pre-trial detention center in March of this year. According to 'Novaya Gazeta Europe'*, in 2025, law enforcement detained 99 high-ranking officials on suspicion of corruption. This averages 14 cases per month and is a record level of arrests for at least the past 10 years.
