A criminal case was initiated against Maxim Katz for 'non-fulfillment of foreign agent duties' following a report to the RKN by a member of the 'undesirable' organization 'Deputies of Peaceful Russia', which Katz himself is a part of, reports 'RIA Novosti' citing law enforcement.
The Ministry of Justice recognized politician and blogger Maxim Katz as a 'foreign agent' in December 2022. In August, the Basmanny Court of Moscow sentenced him in absentia to eight years in a penal colony for a case on military 'fakes' due to a video about Bucha.
As 'Echo' writes, the movement of former municipal deputies who left Russia recently split due to an internal conflict. Most participants voted for not disclosing the names of activists until they themselves wish to, due to the association being declared 'undesirable' in Russia. Dissenting members of the movement criticized the decision and accused Katz of promoting it.
