Judge Olga Bachevskaya of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court upheld the decision to liquidate the charitable 'Roizman Foundation', which was made by the court of first instance in April, reported a SOTAvision* correspondent from the courtroom.
The hearing was held in closed session because the case involved personal data of minors. However, lawyer Kaloy Akhilgov insisted that the session be held in open session, as was done in the court of first instance, open to the press and listeners.
In April, Judge Zhanna Stekolnikova of the Oktyabrsky Court of Yekaterinburg, at the request of the Ministry of Justice, decided to liquidate the 'Roizman Foundation' due to allegations of 'misuse of funds'. 'Misuse' included expenses for computers, wheelchairs, and other items that make life easier for children with developmental disabilities.
After the session, Kaloy Akhilgov reported that the claims of the Ministry of Justice are not related to the possibility of eliminating the violations identified by the department — it is about the liquidation of a specific foundation with a specific name and leader.
The 'Roizman Foundation' was founded by politician Yevgeny Roizman* in 2015. The organization helped families with terminally ill children, raised money for the purchase of medicines, medical equipment, rehabilitation, provided legal assistance to people in difficult life situations, and cooperated with other charitable organizations.
