A pensioner from Yekaterinburg was fined half a million rubles for donations to FBK*

He "funded extremism" in the amount of 13 thousand rubles, the prosecution requested a penalty in the form of a 12 million ruble fine

The judge of the Zheleznodorozhny Court of Yekaterinburg, Tatyana Nadelyaeva, found 69-year-old Andrey Kuzhelev guilty under the article on financing extremist activities and imposed a fine of 500 thousand rubles on him, reported the SOTAvision** correspondent from the courtroom.

The investigation claims that in August 2021, Kuzhelev subscribed to monthly donations to the "extremist" FBK and donated 13 thousand rubles to the fund until February 2022. The prosecution requested a fine of 12 million rubles for this "crime," which, according to the investigation, is Kuzhelev's salary for two years. At the same time, the accused himself insisted that he was an unemployed pensioner.

The man also stated that when he subscribed, he was living in Spain and did not know that FBK was recognized as an "extremist" organization, and the money was donated to fight corruption. In court, he fully admitted his guilt and repented.
