The Russian army has begun restoring Donetsk airport as a base for drones to strike Ukraine

The head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that three people died as a result of a Russian attack in the Stepnohirsk district.

During the day, the Russian army carried out 405 strikes on 10 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, using 296 drones, MLRS, and artillery

Early in the morning of August 4, Russian troops shelled the village of Antonivka in the Kherson region with artillery, and a 47-year-old man sustained fatal injuries.

As reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia intends to expand the use of occupied Ukrainian territory for drone strikes on Ukraine. One of the prepared sites is the territory of the destroyed Donetsk airport.

It is noted that satellite images of the airport taken in July 2025 show that Russian authorities have partially cleared fortifications on the runway and begun construction work on parking areas, possibly as part of preparations for installing fuel tanks.

In addition, the OSINT group CyberBoroshno reported that satellite images indicate that the Russian military is building closed storage facilities near the destroyed airport terminal and preparing manual drone control points, warhead unloading zones, air observation posts, and the runway.
