69-year-old Andrey Kuzhelev transferred a total of 13 thousand rubles to FBK

In the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Yekaterinburg, the parties presented their arguments in the case of 69-year-old Andrey Kuzhelev, accused of financing «extremist activities» for a subscription to donations to the Anti-Corruption Foundation arranged in 2021, reported a Sotavision** correspondent.

The investigation believes that from August 5, 2021, to February 19, 2022, Kuzhelev made 14 transfers and donated about 13 thousand rubles to FBK. The accused also set up a subscription, and the money was automatically deducted from a «Sber» card at 1000 rubles per month.

The prosecutor requested to sentence the man to a fine equivalent to two years' salary — which is 12 million rubles. The defense, however, asked for a fine ranging from 300 thousand to 700 thousand rubles.

Kuzhelev himself explained that he was unaware of FBK being recognized as an «extremist» organization, as he was abroad at that time. He insists that he donated money not for «extremist» activities, but for the fight against corruption.
