The court believes that the book may «harm the political or economic interests of the states of the Eurasian Economic Union, their state security, health, and morality of citizens»

The Leningrad Regional Court published a ruling recognizing Navalny's memoirs as «extremist» material, according to which the book «contains a combination of linguistic and psychological signs of extremist meanings, namely inciting hatred and enmity towards the group „current authorities of the Russian Federation“, distinguished by the sign of social affiliation».

The conducted examination also found in the book «signs of information that may harm the political or economic interests of the states — members of the Eurasian Economic Union, their state security, health, and morality of citizens».

As previously reported by «Mediazona»**, the lawsuit to recognize the book as extremist was filed by the Kingisepp customs. Customs officers discovered it among personal belongings in the luggage of Alexei Mikhailov, who was crossing the Ivan-Gorod border checkpoint on foot from Estonia to Russia. The man was involved in the process as a defendant but did not appear in court.

The book «Patriot» was published by the Lithuanian publisher One Book Publishing in October 2024. It has been translated into 26 languages. The book is divided into two parts: an autobiography, in which Navalny talks about his life before his arrest in January 2021, and a diary, in which he describes life in detention.

* Listed as a «terrorist and extremist».
** Recognized in Russia as a «foreign agent».
