Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Poland is facing an unprecedented operation of destabilization, orchestrated by Russian intelligence services. 39 people have been detained on suspicion of collaborating with Russian structures, accused of sabotage, arson, attacks, espionage, and surveillance. One of the suspects has already been convicted, while others are under investigation or arrested, RMF24 quotes Tusk.
«Anyone who destabilizes the Polish state or the situation at the borders is a direct or indirect accomplice of Russian services. We will act ruthlessly», stated the Prime Minister of Poland.
Among those detained are Russians, Belarusians, and Ukrainians, as well as a Colombian and a Pole. According to Polish special services, Russian handlers recruited operatives through Telegram, often young migrants, including from Latin America, as well as refugees. They were paid for surveillance of objects, arson, acts of sabotage, and publishing the consequences on social networks. Some detainees carried out orders abroad, in the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Germany.
For instance, a 27-year-old Colombian is considered the organizer of two arsons of construction warehouses that occurred in 2024 in Warsaw and Radom. According to Tusk, the prosecutor's office confirmed that he acted «on direct orders from Russian services».
