Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on Donald Trump's statements about reducing the timeframes for ending the war in Ukraine. "We took note of President Trump's statement yesterday. The special military operation continues, and we still remain committed to the peace process to resolve the conflict around Ukraine and ensure our interests during this resolution. Here I would like to avoid assessments [of how much Moscow is concerned about the words of the US president]," Peskov said.
At the same time, he rejected Ukraine's accusations of a Russian strike on a Ukrainian correctional facility in the Zaporizhzhia region, stating that Russia "does not strike civilian targets, strikes are made on military and quasi-military infrastructure."
According to Peskov, the normalization of Russian-American relations is "neither here nor there," Moscow is interested in a more dynamic process, but does not see interest from the other side. In addition, Russia "largely shares the vision of the foundations of world order" with China, Iran, and North Korea, added the Kremlin spokesman.
Summarizing, Peskov stated that Russia has always, including before 2022, been "subscribed to the formula" of Joseph Stalin "our cause is just, the enemy will be defeated, victory will be ours."
