Hackers destroyed the company's IT infrastructure, calling it a message to law enforcement

The airline canceled 42% of flights, and the damage from the hacker attack could range from ten to 50 million dollars, according to Forbes. According to RBC's sources, the airline's losses exceed 250 million rubles. At the same time, one of the publication's sources believes that the costs of restoring the IT infrastructure and lost revenue due to people refusing to buy tickets should also be considered. Then the damage could amount to several billion rubles.

Out of 260 Aeroflot flights scheduled for July 28, 108 flights were canceled. The consequences affected at least 20,000 passengers.

Today, at least 24 flights for departure and arrival at «Sheremetyevo» have already been canceled.

Meanwhile, «Pobeda» — a subsidiary of «Aeroflot» — continues to operate flights as usual, and «Aeroflot» itself has not stopped selling tickets through third-party services.

The hacker groups Silent Crow and «Cyber Partisans» announced the complete destruction of Aeroflot's internal IT infrastructure as a result of a «prolonged and large-scale operation». The hackers called their operation a «message» for Russian law enforcement and organizations that «are unable to protect even their key infrastructures».

The Prosecutor General's Office confirmed the hacking of Aeroflot's system. Law enforcement has initiated a criminal case on unauthorized access to computer information.
