Corresponding Member of the RAS Sergey Abramov* was fined 450 thousand rubles for donations to FBK**

Taking into account house arrest during the investigation, the fine was reduced to 150 thousand rubles

The Pereslavl Court of the Yaroslavl Region found the 68-year-old Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, leading supercomputer developer Sergey Abramov guilty under the article on financing an «extremist community» and imposed a fine of 450 thousand rubles, reported the correspondent of SOTAvision*** from the courtroom. The court mitigated the punishment taking into account the scientist's house arrest to 150 thousand rubles.

The basis of the accusation against Abramov was bank transfers totaling 7 thousand rubles, which, according to the investigation, were directed to the accounts of the «extremist» Anti-Corruption Foundation. The scientist insists that he is not involved in the transfers.

In previous sessions, Abramov denied his guilt and pointed out multiple inconsistencies in the charges and case materials. The scientist also pointed out the inadmissibility of the «specialists» questioned during the hearings: two of them were not experts in the field in which they were questioned.

Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergey Abramov is a corresponding member of the RAS, creator of domestic supercomputer projects SKIF and SKIF-GRID. A criminal case against him was initiated in April 2023. During the investigation, Abramov was placed in a psychiatric clinic for 12 days. Before the verdict, he was first under house arrest and then under a travel ban.

Even at the preliminary investigation stage, Abramov was included in the list of «terrorists and extremists».
