In the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv a colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ivan Voronych, was shot, reports «RBC-Ukraine» citing Kyiv police.
Judging by the published video from a street surveillance camera, Voronych was shot when he was leaving the entrance of a residential building. The attacker fired five aimed shots and then fled.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact of Voronych's murder for an attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer. The attacker has not been found yet, identity is being established.
Former Ukrainian intelligence officer Roman Chervinsky wrote on Facebook* that Voronych was one of those who «initiated the direction in the Service, which is now creating many problems [for Russia]».
Ukrainian journalist Ihor Mosiychuk claims that in the SBU, Voronych held the position of a senior operative officer of the 1st department of the 16th Directorate of the Special Operations Center, and the officer himself was «responsible for a number of sabotages in the territory of the Russian Federation».
