The Colombian police reported on Tuesday the detention of 21-year-old Jesus Ramos Santos in the city of Barranquilla at the request of Lithuania, where he is accused of preparing a terrorist attack and espionage in favor of Russia.

The director of the national police of Colombia, Carlos Fernando Triana Beltran, reported on the social network X that the detainee is subject to extradition, as Santos «created a group whose goal was terrorist attacks in Europe through arson, and engaged in espionage against a company supplying drones to Ukraine».

The order for Santos' extradition to Lithuania must be issued within a maximum of five working days, writes the local publication Infobae. To expedite the extradition process, the accused was handed over to the Colombian Attorney General's Office.

In September last year, Santos arrived in Lithuania to spy on the company UAB TVC Solutions, which is engaged in sending drones to Ukraine. He is also suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in the city of Siauliai, where a NATO forces airfield is located, reported the Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT).

«Agency»* learned that Santos grew up in St. Petersburg and has Russian citizenship. His mother, Amaya Santos, came to Russia when her son was four years old, got married, and in 2016 also received a Russian passport. She confirmed to the publication that her son visited Lithuania in September last year, but is confident that he is not involved in what he is accused of.

After the start of the war with Ukraine, according to the woman, her son left Russia because the family feared that the teenager might be drafted into the army. For some time, Santos lived in Spain, helped the «Red Cross», says the mother. In 2023, he returned to Russia, but a year later left again for Spain, deciding to get there through Bulgaria. There he was detained and charged with terrorism, the woman told «Agency». According to Amaya Santos, in November her son was deported to Colombia, where he lived until today.
