Arega Shchepikhina, abducted by Chechen security forces, added to the registry of 'terrorists and extremists'

2025.07.09

He was accused of public calls for 'extremism' and 'inciting hatred' due to posts about Kadyrovite Chechens

Rosfinmonitoring updated the list of 'terrorists and extremists', including Arega Shchepikhina, who was abducted by Chechen security forces from Yaroslavsky railway station in June. The Minister of Chechnya for National Policy, Akhmed Dudaev, stated that the blogger was 'detained' because he 'repeatedly called for ethnic cleansing and Nazism, insulted religion and God'.

The Kadyrovites beat him and released him only the next day.

The abductors were not arrested and were released on a pledge not to leave, while Shchepikhina himself was placed in a pre-trial detention center, accused under articles of public calls for 'extremism' and inciting hatred.

Six Chechens were charged under articles of kidnapping and abuse of official power, yet they remain free.
