From July 5-7, 500 flights were canceled, and almost 2000 were delayed, the previous record was on May 6-7, when about 350 flights were delayed or canceled

This past weekend in Russia, about 500 flights were canceled and almost 2,000 were delayed due to airport closures during Ukrainian drone attacks. The aviation collapse, affecting at least 140,000 passengers, became the largest since the full-scale war in Ukraine, according to an analysis by «Agency».

According to Rosaviatsiya, during the collapse, from 6:00 AM on July 5 to 6:00 AM on July 7, 43,000 forced ticket returns were processed, 94,000 people were accommodated in hotels, and more than 350,000 vouchers for drinks and meals were issued. Meanwhile, the agency called the situation «completely manageable».

As reported by «Kommersant», airlines estimated the damage at 20 billion rubles.

The collapse that occurred over the weekend became the largest since the full-scale war in terms of the number of canceled and delayed flights, the previous record occurred in early May — amid Ukrainian drone attacks from May 6 to 7, about 350 flights were delayed or canceled, affecting about 60,000 people.

The July collapse was only surpassed by the May one in terms of geography: on July 5-6, authorities did not close more than 10 airports per day, while on May 6-7, up to 15 airports were closed per day, according to an analysis by «Agency».
