On the night of July 9, Russian forces launched a massive drone and missile attack across Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian military used 741 aerial attack means. This is the most massive airstrike on Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war.
Lutsk, located near the Polish border, was subjected to the most massive attack since the beginning of the full-scale invasion using drones and missiles. The head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Ivan Rudnitsky, reported that about 50 drones and 5 missiles were in the airspace of Volyn that night. According to him, "practically everything was flying towards Lutsk." The shelling resulted in fires and destruction in industrial zones and private residential areas.
Poland brought its air defense forces, fighters, and radar reconnaissance to full combat readiness. "Please note, in connection with the attack by the Russian Federation, which strikes targets located on the territory of Ukraine, operations of Polish and allied air forces have begun in our airspace," reported the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
In the Kyiv region, a 45-year-old woman was injured as a result of the drone attack, and she was hospitalized with a closed chest fracture.
In Sumy, a 74-year-old woman was also injured, in addition to drones, 20 CABs were dropped on the Sumy region.
In Kherson, two people were injured during the drone attack and were taken to the hospital with mine-explosive injuries.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, private houses were destroyed as a result of CABs hitting residential areas, and one person was injured.
