Law enforcement officers detained the former First Deputy Director of the National Guard, Viktor Strigunov, state agencies reported citing sources in law enforcement agencies. He is accused of abuse of office and bribery.
Viktor Strigunov has held the rank of Colonel General since 2017. From January 2020, he served as the First Deputy Head of the National Guard, having come from the position of Commander of the Siberian District of the National Guard. However, in the fall of 2023, he left the position and became an advisor to the agency's director, Viktor Zolotov.
According to a source in the investigative bodies reported by "Kommersant," Strigunov became a figure in an investigation related to the implementation of the National Guard's construction projects. The damages amount to hundreds of millions of rubles.
According to the Telegram channel SHOT, close to law enforcement, the criminal case against the Colonel General is related to embezzlement during the construction of a military training ground near Novosibirsk. Moreover, according to the channel, the training ground was built with violations: a regular passenger flight route to the Far East passes over this area. The military cannot use the facility now.
