The decision was made by the operational headquarters of the Belgorod region, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, the restoration of apartments and cars of local residents who have left Russia will be postponed until the end of the war with Ukraine. Officials will maintain a separate registry of damaged property for such Russians, writes the publication «7×7»*.
Gladkov stated that the innovation is an initiative of the municipal leaders, with which he «absolutely agrees». At the same time, on June 16, he himself proposed to suspend the restoration of destroyed property for those who have left.
«If people have left the country, why should we spend on them first, while people here remain, suffer, and work in extremely difficult situations. <...> I have great doubts about the correctness of our actions, that we help everyone equally. Why should we put them on the same level with everyone else? <...> The special military operation will end, we will gather separately and consider it, but for now, we will preserve these objects», said the governor.
In May, Gladkov accused local residents of deliberately exposing their cars to shelling for compensation, not putting them in garages. In November 2024, the governor proposed banning parking cars in the shelled areas of Shebekino due to high restoration costs.
