On June 12, Russia and Ukraine conducted another prisoner exchange. The formula by which the exchange takes place is not disclosed.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that currently, Russian servicemen are in Belarus, where they are receiving necessary psychological and medical assistance. They will then be transported to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation in the Ministry of Defense's medical facilities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that servicemen, national guardsmen, and border guards returned home. Among those released today are defenders of Mariupol who had been in captivity for more than three years. All those released are men, representatives of the rank-and-file and sergeant ranks. Some of them were previously considered missing in action.
Some defenders had been in captivity since the first days of the full-scale invasion, said Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets. According to him, the oldest warrior released today is 59 years old, and the youngest is 22 years old.
«All require treatment, and they will definitely receive the necessary assistance. This is already the second stage of returning severely wounded and seriously ill warriors. We continue to work to bring everyone back from Russian captivity», wrote Zelensky in his Telegram channel.
Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular the Airborne Assault Forces, Naval Forces, Air Forces, Territorial Defense Forces, SBS, as well as the State Border Guard Service and the National Guard of Ukraine returned home.
The coordination headquarters continues to work, and the next stage of releasing Ukrainian defenders will be conducted in the near future.
