On the night of June 11, Ukrainian drones attacked the Tambov Gunpowder Plant in Kotovsk, which is the largest producer of gunpowder for small arms and artillery ammunition. A fire started on the premises, and local public pages report a series of explosions.
The acting governor of the Tambov region, Evgeny Pervyshov, confirmed the drone attack on the gunpowder plant. According to him, no one was injured. «As a result of the fall of one of the downed UAVs, a fire broke out, which was extinguished by fire departments. There are no casualties», — he wrote on his Telegram channel.
The Tambov Gunpowder Plant is part of the «Rostec» corporation and is the largest producer of gunpowder for small arms and artillery ammunition in Russia. According to «Kommersant», the enterprise produces more than 200 types of products, including nitrocellulose gunpowder for small arms, hand grenades and grenade launchers, artillery and mortar ammunition.
As ASTRA* writes, drones already attacked the plant on the night of May 29, a fire broke out on the roof of one of the warehouses, no one was injured. The plant was also attacked in January of this year, in July 2024, and in November 2023.
The Ministry of Defense reported five UAVs shot down over the territory of the Tambov region. Another 16 were shot down over the Voronezh region, eight over the Kursk region, two over the Rostov region, and one over the Black Sea.
