Darya Kozyreva was accused again of 'discrediting', now an administrative protocol has been drawn up against her for her final statement in court

2025.05.30

According to the court's press service, she 'talked herself into it', 'distinguished herself with statements about war, occupation, and more'

The Petrogradsky District Court of St. Petersburg registered a new administrative case against 19-year-old activist Darya Kozyreva under the article on 'discrediting' the army. The basis, as reported by the courts' press service, was the girl's statements in her final word at the hearing on her criminal case.

'Kozyreva was given the floor at the court session and in that statement, she talked herself into part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. In her final word, Kozyreva also distinguished herself with statements about war, occupation, and more,' the court's message states.

'I seem to be saying obvious things, but they are not obvious. It is clear that Putin cannot comprehend that Ukraine is a sovereign nation,' Kozyreva said in her final word. 'There are many things he cannot comprehend, like human rights, democratic principles.'

On April 18, Darya Kozyreva was sentenced to two years and eight months in a colony on a criminal case of repeated 'discrediting' of the army. The case was based on two episodes — an interview with 'Sever.Realii'*, and a sheet with poems by Taras Shevchenko, which she pasted on a monument to the Ukrainian poet on the anniversary of the war.

In 2022, a criminal case was initiated against the then 17-year-old Kozyreva for intentional damage to property — the girl wrote on an installation on Palace Square dedicated to St. Petersburg's aid to Mariupol, the words: 'Murderers, you bombed it. Judas.' The case was limited to an interrogation.
