The Kirovsky District Court of Omsk declared twelve pages on websites, where images comparing Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler and a number of other memes with the Russian president are posted, as prohibited in Russia, noted "Verstka"*.
The Omsk prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit in court. In its opinion, the images "negatively affect the interests of society and the state, incite an unspecified group of people to commit terrorist activities, crimes, and facilitate their commission".
In some cases, the ban included photographs where the president was photoshopped with a mustache and hairstyle like Hitler's. In particular, because of this, images from the film "Hitler Kaput!" with Pavel Derevyanko, published on the same pages, were also banned.
In other cases, the court banned photographs containing the inscriptions "Putler kaput". As the publication notes, most of them were made at protest rallies, and the inscriptions were on the protesters' posters. For example, the court banned a photograph by blogger Ilya Varlamov, which captured a woman with a poster "Putler, drink poison before you're served lead".
The court even banned a page on LiveJournal, where an image styled as a magazine cover of "Crocodile" with a photograph of Putin and the caption "The trial has begun on the merits. The creature declared it was not guilty" was published.
