«Bumaga»* obtained an order for Pronko's expulsion from the second year of the bachelor's program at the Faculty of Political Science due to a violation of the SPbSU charter, which requires «compliance with the legislation of the Russian Federation» and the charter itself. Meanwhile, the court's decision on Pronko's offense has not yet come into force, about which SPbSU was notified.
In early May, the student was fined 20,000 rubles under an administrative article for organizing a rally. He is attributed with the action «Science is Dead», which unknown individuals conducted on March 24. At that time, a figure of the goddess Minerva was «hung» on the leg of the monument to Count Uvarov at the main building of SPbSU. Previously, for the same action, a student of LETI, Stepan Timofeev, was given an administrative arrest.
Pronko himself denied participation in the action. Activists of the community, who were the first to report the «Science is Dead» action and took responsibility for it, also stated that they were not acquainted with either Pronko or Timofeev, whom the authorities referred to as «Trotskyist students».
For the first time, about the «cell of left-radical Trotskyists» at SPbSU was written at the end of April by RIA «Novosti» citing anonymous sources. In this article, Pronko was attributed with membership in the Trotskyist communist organization «Workers' Power».
On May 15, searches were conducted on seven participants of «Workers' Power» as part of a criminal case on calls for terrorism. One of them, SPbSU student Garry Azaryan, was arrested.
According to «OVD-Info»* since 2022, 70 students have been expelled from Russian universities for political reasons.
