The 1st Western District Military Court sentenced 24-year-old Daniil Galitsky* to 13 years in a high-security colony, as reported by "Mediazona"**. He is also prohibited from administering internet resources for a year after his release.
Galitsky was found guilty of "treason" and "justifying terrorism." His case was considered in a single session.
The trial was held in a closed session, and it is unknown what specifically the young man was accused of, or when and how he was detained. In January of this year, Daniil Galitsky was added to the list of terrorists and extremists by Rosfinmonitoring. According to Daniil's Telegram account, he was last online on February 28, 2024.
Galitsky is a graduate of the Department of Political Science at the Herzen Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg. His acquaintances told the publication that he was an active student at the university, becoming a class leader during his studies. After graduating, he planned to become a political journalist.
In 2023, Galitsky participated in several scientific conferences. He gave presentations on the development of modern social policy institutions and Finland's state policy in the healthcare sector. The young man also researched the parties of the last State Duma convocation.
