FSB officers detained seven members of a cell of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia, who were «supervised by an emissary from Poland», reports «RIA Novosti».
«The FSB of the Russian Federation in the Nizhny Novgorod region has suppressed the activities of a covert cell of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia, consisting of seven citizens from one of the Central Asian countries», the message states. They acted on the orders of a curator from Poland, claim the security forces.
According to the intelligence services, the detainees spread terrorist ideology among Muslims and migrants, «aimed at the violent seizure of power and the creation of the so-called caliphate», and recruited new supporters. It is noted that banned propaganda materials, communication devices, electronic information carriers, «used by them in conducting terrorist activities», were seized from the cell members.
Criminal cases have been initiated against two of the detainees, ordinary participants have been detained administratively and will be deported from Russia.
